Earth Day 2023: The theme for this year is “Invest in our Planet.” Every year, April 22 is celebrated as Earth Day, an annual event where people take time out to demonstrate their support for protecting the planet and its environment. As OPSEU Local 101 members we can take steps each and every day to invest in our planet for the future. Here are some actions to take each day:-support your local farmers and sustainable food systems-support local retailers and artisans-consider planting native plants around your home to support biodiversity-use resusable containers for your drinks-reuse water whenever possible. A great example is taking your dehumifier water to water your plants or add to your next load of laundry-consider alternative modes of transportation: biking, car pooling, public transit and walking-reduce food waste and start a home compost in your backyard-reuse items, donate used items, shop second hand and upcycle!
